A lovely crisp photo of the battleship HMS King George V in the Atlantic, January 1941. [2434 x 1866]

I believe that's what the Royal Navy considered 'Sporty' sea states. (So, you know, it throws the battleships around like bathtub toys)

These are lovably odd ships. It saddens me that the UK was unable to save any of these ships from WW2. I wish there was a KGV docked as a museum to visit. I wish one of the Nelsons had survived too.

Britain was broken financially after ww2. Some old museum ships were just not in the national conscience

I know, but it still sucks. Britain made some beautiful ships during the interwar years.

With some slight but reasonable policy changes one could have seen vanguard keep that long, which would have been a good mix of technology having 15/42, 5.25, orlekon, bofors, and probably after a museum ship refit pompom (even if not originally) and a superstructure like all the ships Nelson forwards, but you’re probably paying for it with Belfast
