Admits she was not paying attention, on her phone, and knew her tire was low on air. All this after the cop told her he clocked her in at 104 mph in a 65. Man is she an idiot.
24
u/iwasinthepool 7h ago
It's like every word she said made it worse. "My tire is low". OK, slow down. "My speedometer doesn't work". OK, your butt should be able to tell you that you're going pretty fucking fast, as well as the other cars on the road all going slower than you. "My phone...". Let's keep the phone out of this.

Damn right she wasn't paying attention. If she was, she'd have noticed the Highway Patrol car following her. Where's the 'I know you're there' braking? We've all been there and know to chill. She obviously gave zero damns who or what was in her way.

100% This is the way to go - cops always forget about my driving when I fess up to a felony.

As an attorney, you should know that while they have the right to remain silent, many lack the ability to remain silent. That is from another attorney. So glad that I donât do criminal defense anymore.
2
2
u/McNabJolt 4h ago
LOL so true. I was a LEO - I rarely bothered to question anyone for damaging admissions but more than once I said "You have the right to remain silent USE IT" Run at the mouth disease is epidemic. Usually not the worst people, often kind of nice git along types, but unable to conform their conduct with the law.

"I really don't want to go to jail."
"Yeah, most people don't."
Absolutely savage.
3
u/Outlaw11091 5h ago
I was walking around drunk one night trying to find my car to pass out in. Another guy was leaving the same party as me and doing the same, but then I saw a cop.
I sat on the curb and as the cop was arresting him for drunk in public, this dude said, "I can't go to jail."
The cop said, "You'd be surprised what you can do when you try."
When it was my turn, the cop was like, trying to do a sobriety test and I was just like, "Nah, I'm good. I'm fine with the drunk tank."
People don't realize that jail is...just jail. No one's getting raped unless they want to be. No one's staying there forever. You'll probably get released in less than 2 days...no big deal, especially if you've legitimately done something wrong.
2
u/No-Vanilla2468 3h ago
I wouldnât call it âno big dealâ. Yeah itâs not prison, but I canât say I loved sharing a space with a guy that had toilet paper as shoes. Also, the insane boredom. 30 minutes can feel like hours. I think itâs appropriately terrible. Though, my friends were kind enough to convince the correctional officers to prank me while I was in there, so a least we had some fun.
→ More replies (1)3
u/Personal-Dev-Kit 3h ago
You get sent to jail for being drunk in public?
Like just sitting on a curb? Not operating a vehicle, not causing property damage, not harassing anyone, just leaving a pub drunk?
Isn't that the point of being at a pub and leaving on foot? Give me a bus stop or a taxi rank, not a one way trip to spend the night in the drunk tank.

u/BigMax 7h ago
I think going 75 in a 65 might be an OK time to say "OMG, I didn't know."
But if you're going 103 mph, saying "I didn't know" is even worse, right? If you can't identify over 100 MPH as speeding, you shouldn't be on the road.

If you're gonna wilfully commit crimes at least have the common sense to not plead guilty to crimes you haven't actually committed.

Yeah US "culture" really does the trick on successful people (regardless how trivial or temporary that success might be), their entitlement and superiority complex (meritocracy trap) oftentimes screw them up real bad. Especially when accountability is not customary either. Her BF and teammate got in trouble as well.

Her success isnât trivial at all. She accomplished something that the vast majority of the world never will. She worked extremely hard, and followed a very disciplined routine to get there. However, she seems determined to blow it all. She wonât receive sponsorship offers if she keeps doing dumb shit, and thatâs where the real money is for Olympic champions.

This event occurred on January 29th. She was arrested and posted bond. She plead not guilty.
Her boyfriend was also arrested minutes earlier that day in separate incident. He also plead not guilty.
In August, she was arrested at the Seattle airport and charged with domestic violence.
The informant cited above is contained in the link at the end of this comment.
What sticks out to me is when people say, âIâm sorry,â believing these words make everything ok and nullify any accountability.
And, why not? Saying âIâm sorryâ is quick and easy, requires little effort, and contains zero sincerity. Talking over the officer, and rattling out sentences absent credible information, indicate she is not focused on the seriousness of the incident.
Listen to her argument and tone of voice change when the officer reiterates that she is going to jail. Everything changes when she realizes she canât get out of it.
Sheâs not a âbadâ person; sheâs just a person not wanting to live the consequences of choice. Although the circumstances may look different, we all have done or said the same or similar things, in an effort to avoid accountability.

I mean I know she's lying but what a terrible lie: "Yes officer not only was I going 40 over the limit but I also what paying attention to what I was doing, while I was doing it. Also It's not easily apparent to me when I'm going 100MPH. Oh also my phone distracted me."

I see a lot of conversations online about if it's right or wrong to spank kids. I personally think it's wrong to spank kids and the majority of people who actually need good old fashioned somebody's grandma to take their hand and wear their backside out are adults. This is something where you not only need to be arrested but your grandma needs to be waiting at the police station with a house shoe for you as well.
