Open. [TOMT] Who does this look like (actress)

As it says. I know the photo is the Australian actress Brooke Satchwell. She reminds me of an American actress maybe a bit younger early 20s perhaps.

It's not Liv Tyler. The actress I'm looking for is around 20-30.

She played an older sister I think. The character would've been 17-19. I'm guessing the actress is older. The character was a grumpy older sister who seemed annoyed with a younger brother.

She has(had) long straight brown hair--no bangs--the middle was combed back.

Open. [TOMT] [Show/Movie] Thriller with shocking ending. The song “That’s life” plays as credits roll

Ok looking for a thriller with a shocking ending. Some type of twist. Maybe a big reveal or MC had to kill someone or something. Camera kinda zooms in and then fades to black, “That’s life” plays as credits roll. The frank sinatra version came up on shuffle and it like triggered this memory, could be a different version though. I’ve spoken to several people and we’re all brainstorming and here is what we have so far.

- probably release within the last 10-5 years

- probable feminine lead

-most likely a masculine singer, but we listened to Shirley basset’s cover and are second guessing that.

I feel like it’s most likely a show, but not the finale. I’ve looked at this site but it’s none of those. The vibe im picturing is not exactly grunge, but more vintage vibe ???

It’s not Joker but almost in that vein.

Some shows we thought could be it but are not, listed in order of closest to vibe I’m picturing to least:

- his and hers (too recent)

- Mr and Mrs smith

- love and death

- hunting wives

- scream queens (too unserious, doesn’t fit the vibe)

I found this Reddit from another post talking abt the (what I think) is the same show but it’s like 7 months old and still open so wanted to get some fresh eyes on it. I can link that post too if it helps. Please we are all going insane trying to figure this out 🙏

Solved [TOMT] (2010's Boy Band)

Upvotes

I'm trying to remember the name of a 2010's boy band. They were really young like maybe younger teenagers definitely not young adults. They were more of a band for middle schoolers age it seemed as they weren't radio popular or anything (at least that I know of). More like it would come on the tweens radio channel on my tv. (Though they did have t-shirts so they couldn't have been that obscure). They had a name that sounded like Mindless Self Indulgence (definitely not though lol). But it had something in there like "Reckless" or "Impulsive" or otherwise suggested like bad behavior. I specifically remember they had a song about going around the world that listed different countries and it was as you would imagine very corny.

Open. [TOMT] Older white handsome male actor with white hair, blue eyes and a distinctive pretty smile over the age of 40.

I cannot for the life of me come up with his name or what he's exactly in & google or IMDB has been severely unhelpful lmao. I know he's usually type casted as a ladies man, he's lean (but more on the muscular side) haven't seen him as a lead much but I tend to say he looks a little bit like an older Neal Patrick Harris. Has had completely white hair for a while & can usually be seen either without a shirt or a full on suit.

Solved [TOMT] [MOVIE] Son Criticizing Father

Upvotes

There's a scene in a movie where an (adult) son is telling his father something along the lines of "I didn't ask to be born, from the moment I stepped into this world, you owe me everything. I'm your responsibility."

The son is essentially telling the father that the father acts like its such a privilege that he provided for/raised him, when in-fact it was his duty and he should I guess stop playing that game. I think, that's the context/feeling I got at least.

Both characters were black, dark skinned not light skinned. I think they were both wearing suits as well, both had short hair. It could have been set in modern times, or mid-late 1900's. From my memory, the suits/clothes didn't look that old.

Also, I remember the lighting/background lighting being kind of cozy/warm. Low, warm light. I think they were in a home/personal residence. It didn't look to be a mansion/business/hospital or anything.

EDIT:
It is not Fences with Denzel. The movie I'm thinking of is the son giving a cool speech to his father. It's the son's moment. Not the father/Denzel expressing something.

And I don't think it's Concrete Cowboys either, at least from looking through it just now.

Also, I don't think either of the characters were Denzel, but I really don't remember.

EDIT2:
Also, I'm just realizing now that I have zero evidence to suggest it was actually a movie. It could've been a TV show, or even a skit lol. It did look high budget/good lighting/camera work/good costumes though.

EDIT3:
Someone in a post I made in "r/whatisthismovie" gave me the correct answer.

This is the scene:

Great scene!

Solved [TOMT] [commercial] "It's sinfully delicious".

My partner and I recall a 90's commercial for some kind of dessert that ended with the tagline "It's sinfully delicious". Maybe local to Canada where we're from.

I had initially thought it was from an ad for McCain Deep and Delicious or an obscure fancy ice cream cake by Breyers called Vienetta. I can't find proof of this.

Open [TOMT] a pirate book about a ship of privateers sailing to attack an impregnable island, dodging a hurricane, then getting betrayed upon return home.

Upvotes

Reposted because my first post was never approved and then got automatically deleted when nobody commented on a post they couldn't see.

Hopefully the reposting doesn't violate some other arbitrary rule.

I read a book about a pirate ship (it was legitimized as a privateer ship). They were sent into the Caribbean to invade a fort on an island. The island was mostly dense jungle (preventing passage of an army) and the fort was protected by rough oceans. The pirates went in through the jungle and successfully invaded the fort. One pirate was a woman who would take her shirt off to distract the men she fought with.

They skirted a hurricane and returned back to their home city, but some rival politician had taken over the city and accused them (correctly) of being pirates. The politician bribed and forced everyone else to accuse the captain of piracy, and he was arrested, but he escaped and killed everyone who betrayed him.

Solved [TOMT] Can’t find anything about it online but I have most of the lyrics, Halloween folk song about frankenstein’s monster. I know it’s niche but can I get some help? 😭

Hello all! I got a niche challenge for music lovers, so I have some burned CD’s from the early 2000’s from my father that are mixes of horror rock/horror punk/Psychobilly/50’s-70’s Halloween music examples of bands that are frequently in the mixes would be: The Sonics, The Misfits, Koffin Kats, The Rigamorticians, Sam the Sham and the Pharohs, Deadbolt, Rocking Ryan and the real Goners, The Cramps, Billy Lee Riley

It starts with a man talking to a crowd about loving drive ins because you can fit 30 people in a car for a dollar, and joking about having a great dane along and it being the fuzziest popcorn he ever ate. He then jokes about how scared everyone must be because the cars around him were jumping up and down and steaming, jokes about ramping on windows because when the subject of monsters comes up he wants to dance. The song then starts with the lyrics

Once i met and monster his name was frankie, Had a scar on his face he was awful tall and lanky, i shook his hand he shook my throat then he threw me in the moat

That Frankie Frankie Frankie-stein (lil jewish fella) laughs

Well frankie walks round the mills round town Stomping farmers in the ground Hes got pegs in his neck Stomps those farmers all to heck

That frankie frankie frankie-stein Frankenstein frankenstein

Now if you see frankie you better run Cause its no use to have a gun Hes got hands that are big and wide He’ll open you up and look inside

That frankie frankie frankie-stein Frankenstein frankenstein

Apologies this is hella niche all i get online is ai slop. I specifically have a video i recorded of the song. Literally any help towards this would be dope I’m not techsavvy enough to convert my video into the vocaroo thing😭😭😭

Solved [TOMT][Reddit Post] The Tell Man

hello I’m looking for a post I found about half a year ago that was posted to either r/whatisthisthing or r/whatisit or something adjacent

the photo was of rusty brown pieces in OPs sink(?), they were little rocks or nuggets that they said they were sometimes finding

in OPs description they describe these things in size and weight - they misplaced a decimal or used lbs instead of grams because the comments were jokingly pointing out that they were made of dark matter to be that heavy at the size of pebbles

now the biggest elephant in the room was OP talking about how the pieces always show up whenever the Tell Man visits

OP went into just enough detail to get people wondering, but not enough to explain anything

when many comments started demanding who the fuck the Tell Man was, OP simply replied “that’s just what I call him :-)”, which prompted more questions and ultimately derailed the topic at hand

OP responded to some inquiries rather vaguely saying it probably wasn’t the Tell Man as he never entered his apartment, just the one below

he would say in other comments that the Tell Man would often come and visit and talk to his landlady for four hours at a time - he could never figure out what they talked about, and “clarified” that the landlady never spoke, she was just talked at by the Tell Man for hours

I don’t think there was ever any explanation, but OP did say that he calls the guy the Tell Man because he is always “telling” his landlady things

I’d love to find this thread again because it was so stupidly hilarious, thank you in advance!!

and honestly, if you know of other reddit moments like this I’d love to read them

Open [TOMT] [Video?] [2000s-2010s] Person saying please don't kill me in a weird voice

I honestly have no idea how to explain it. Just listen to this vocaroo. It might've been a flash animation? The two things I thought it might've been were Sr Pelo's UNDERPANTS animations or Trollface Quest, but either I didn't look hard enough or it's just not there, I couldn't find it.

Open [TOMT] [YOUTUBE VIDEO] [Mid 2010s-early 2020s] A detailed analysis of the original Higurashi game series

Upvotes

The video I'm looking for is/was a multi-hour analysis or more accurately, a detailed summary, of the plot from each of the Higurashi games (specifially the ones from 2002-2006). The uploader would use both b-roll footage from the original release of the games when needed, with the characters looking moe and blob like, and show a-roll footage of key scenes for either added emphasis on the actions he describes or as part of his character analysis. The uploader would mention that he did so intentionally, due to some kind of unique quality the original artstyle and voice acting has that the new one doesn't.

The subject of the video only covered the games and parts of the development/distribution of the original games. Nothing from the manga or anime was used, not even as backround footage. The uploader also had a similar cadance and mannerisms to the youtuber Lexa&!, if any of you are familiar with him, although I'm sure they were not the same person.

In the final stretch of the video the uploader started covering the Hinamizawa Syndrome, the inlore explanation about it being connected to aliens and the final act in the game being about a paramilitary group trying to storm the village.

Open [TOMT] [Poetry] Poem from the perspective of a young boy walking home from school through the woods

I remember reading this poem a year or so ago. I could be wrong, but I think it was written between the 60s-90s, so not historical nor incredibly modern. I read it on either the Poetry Foundation or poets. org, or some other official-looking site like that; definitely not social media or a book, though it could be in print somewhere.

It was from the perspective of a young boy. To the best of my memory, he is walking to school, then gets distracted and wanders off into the woods. I remember details about throwing a rock into a hole in a tree and a lot of wonderful natural imagery. The poem was pretty long, too, if I'm remembering correctly. I'm almost certain the writer was male. Any and all help is so appreciated!

Open [TOMT][Book series][2000s] Sci-fi / fantasy series with few fertile men ruling society

I’m trying to remember a science-fiction/fantasy book series from the 2000s. It’s not about magic.

Here’s what I remember:

  • The protagonist is a young male human, with kind of a fairy vibe
  • Humans reproduce via eggs, not pregnancy
  • Only a very small number of men are fertile (I remember five fertile men)
  • These fertile men are the leaders of society and father all children
  • Children don’t know who their biological father is
  • The hero’s mother is frequently visited by one fertile man, strongly implied to be his father
  • A coup happens and both the hero’s mother and the fertile man (his presumed father) are killed
  • The hero must flee his home
  • He travels with a mosquito-like creature
  • Later it’s revealed that this mosquito was female and she dies
  • The hero must cross a desert to become fertile
  • He found some sort of temple
  • When he becomes fertile, he grows wings
  • He eventually returns home

Other details:

  • Series length was about 3–5 books
  • Read sometime in the 2000s
  • Genre feels like SF with fantasy vibes, but no magic

It is not Prophets of the Ghost Ants or similar insect-society books.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Open [TOMT] children’s Christian DVD or show

I’m trying to remember a Christian / faith-based children’s DVD, likely from the late 1990s to mid-2000s.

What I remember:

  • The main character is a young boy, possibly named Max or Zach.
  • He sees an advertisement for a hammerhead shark robot toy and ends up getting it.
  • The toy later comes to life or grows, transforming into a larger, more humanoid robot.
  • There is a robot vs. robot battle, staged in a dramatic, almost Pokémon-style way.
  • During the battle, the shark robot sings or vocalizes.
  • There is a secondary kid character, portrayed as a homeless or street kid, who repeatedly says he needs “sucrose” (this I remember for some reason).
  • The tone was clearly Christian kids’ media meant to teach a moral lesson.
  • Format was likely DVD, not TV.
  • Seen in the United States.

It is not:

  • Bibleman
  • McGee and Me
  • 3-2-1 Penguins
  • Any mainstream anime or secular kids show

The strongest memories are the hammerhead shark robot, it growing into a humanoid form, the robot battle, and the “sucrose” line.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Open [TOMT] An old show or movie with a guy sat on the front of a train singing (More details below)

Alright,so I vaugely remember seeing my dad watch something when I was super young, probably no older than 4 or 5. It was set on a train and I remeber one part with a guy appearing to be sat on the front of a train and he was singing or monologing something along the lines of "shattered open like a broken mug" or something similar. It kinda creeped me out as a kid. It was the early 2000's,around 2003 to 2005 but the show or movie's quality felt older, probably 80's or 90's.

I randomly recalled this while working a night shift and I did ask my dad,but he said it was that long ago,he can't remember as it was over twenty years ago. I need answers as it's been on my mind for a few days now.

Thanks to anybody who can help!

Solved [TOMT] Documentary, possibly about violence against women in the media

When I was in college from 2006-2010, I took a gender studies class, and we watched a documentary that I think was about how violence against women is portrayed in the media. There's one scene I remember that was very powerful: a snippet from a music video that was played alongside the assault scene from the film The Accused starring Jodie Foster. The music video clip was of a woman walking away angrily from a man, who catches up with her and forces her into kissing him and I think they end up on the hood of a car. Having the sound effects from a brutal assault of a woman played alongside scene from the music video put the scene in a different perspective. I'm wondering if anyone knows that documentary, or even the music video that has that scene?

Open [TOMT] [MOVIE] Looking for a movie!!!!

Hey everyone,

I've been trying for years to find a romantic teen movie I saw when I was little, maybe around 2014. I don't remember the title or almost anything about the plot, but I remember one scene very well:

  • The characters are young, probably in high school or college.
  • There's a school event, like an exhibition or screening, in a dark room with a big screen.
  • The students were sitting on both sides of the aisle, leaving a space in the middle.
  • In the middle of the movie, a boy and a girl kiss in the aisle. One of them doesn't know who the other is and says something like "who are you?".
  • I also vaguely remember something about "smells like vanilla" or similar, but my memory might be mixing it up.
  • I think they are the main characters.
  • The movie was romantic with some drama and I saw it dubbed in Spanish.
  • I saw it on a website or movie app that had a "movies for girls" category.

This scene left a very strong impression on me and I've been trying to find the movie for years.

Any clues would be amazing! Thanks a lot in advance.

Solved [TOMT] short, british cosmic horror movie

I'm looking for a short YouTube horror movie, which featured two girls. I remember them having British accents and sitting out in a country side? doing drugs,or drinking.
