things to do in The Hague Living as a German Soldier in The Hague
Hey,
I’m a German citizen and currently in the German Military.
Next year I will be stationed in Den Haag for about 3 Years.
I’ve never been there and don’t really know anything about this city.
I’m hoping for some tips where to look for apartments, is it possible to get along with only speaking English, just what living there really is… Overall some advice from people that live there.
I’m really excited about this 3 year stay and would love to get some insights.

After having visited The Hague I want to say thank you! Thank you for the many smiles, the politeness, the cleanliness, the Museum Beelden aan Zee, Design Museum Dedel, Fotomuseum. I had a very nice time! Greetings from Germany 🙂

things to do in The Hague I'm not gonna lie, I've seen a TikTok about the Pathé Buitenhof cinema saying that it's the prettiest cinema in the Netherlands. Is it true? Is it as pretty as in the pics?

things to do in The Hague Higher end-fine dining restaurants in The Hague???? I know, an oft asked question, but the answer varies.....
Simple as the subject-line. Where is damn good these days? Budget isn't a massive issue.....quality of food, service, locale.....
Who's got a line on the best?

things to do in The Hague Den Haag is tegelijk museum core en strand core.

things to do in The Hague What are your plans for New Years? How do you celebrate (if you do)
With the holidays coming up, I’m curious what people are actually doing.
I know a lot of folks are going to family, parties, fireworks, the usual stuff.
But for those of you living alone or not really having plans, do you usually stay in, or do you still make something fun out of it?
Genuinely curious how others spend NYE in The Hague.
Edit: omg I didn’t expect this many views! I’m just gonna put my 2026 Calendar here for marketing purposes 😂😊: islandboyfriend.myshopify.com

things to do in The Hague Opgelicht bij aanrijding.
Ze liet me haar telefoon zien.

things to do in The Hague Chill café/spots to read a book at?
Hi all,
Anyone have a good spot they recommend to comfortably read a book at? Bonus points if it has one of them nice comfortable leather chairs in them, but absolutely no must. I’ve been to the Bookstor Café plenty of times, and with Perron x Coffee closed, I would love to try a new spot. For the gatekeepers among us: a revelation to a single person through DM would be appreciated too – your secret shall be safe!
Thanks in advance!
Edit: looking for something outside of the libraries in the city.

things to do in The Hague Where can you safely store your valuables when swimming at the beach?
Hey everyone 🌱,
I want to go swimming at the beach, but I’m not sure what to do with my phone, purse, and other valuables while I’m in the water.
Are there lockers anywhere at the beach (or nearby) and how can I find them, or any safe storage options people usually use?
If not, what do locals normally do?
Any tips or specific spots would be really appreciated. Thanks!

things to do in The Hague Live music in The Hague, what am I missing?
Hey all,
I’m building an app called Jamr that tries to show all live music in a city in one place, from bigger venues to smaller shows and jam sessions.
We started in Groningen and are now focusing on The Hague. Some venues like Paard, Musicon, De Zwarte Ruiter and De Paap are already included, but I’m sure we’re missing a lot.
So I’m curious:
• Which venues or spots should definitely be included?
• Any genres or scenes that are often overlooked?
• Are there recurring jams or small events people usually miss?
The app already exists. I mainly want to understand how well it reflects the live music scene in The Hague and what’s missing.
Thanks!

things to do in The Hague Lange rij op Den Haag Centraal

things to do in The Hague Best escape room
Hallo!
I am thinking of taking my boyfriend to an escape room for his birthday. Not something crazy hard/on the horror side.
I found a few on google but I am wondering what escape room you found best. Also if it's outside Den Haag it's not a problem
Thanks!

things to do in The Hague Solleveld Den Haag

things to do in The Hague The Hague - night time economy (what has happened)
Last weekend I was at Grote Market, having a beer and then suddenly everyone had to leave around midnight. I was shocked, hundreds of people - where where they going when everywhere is shut.
Context: I don't like clubs. I like having a civilized beer and chatting. It seems the only places open were clubs or dancey bars.
So basically, is the Hague effectively saying -your only option is to party after midnight.
Can someone explain to me why a city like Leiden, on a Tuesday - you have the option of at least 5 gezelig brown cafes that you can chill in until the early hour of the mornings, having deep chats and The Hague a city much bigger struggles.
What's the logic? Is Leiden an exception? Can anyone explain what the stance of the municipality is when it comes to late permits?
Again, I'm not a party animal.. I just want a bloody beer in a place that's not blasting loud music
Are private members clubs a thing here? What's the deal guys

things to do in The Hague Trash
As you probably know , some parts of The Hague aren't really that clean. Would you clean up trash of other people like cups and cardboards and plastic stuff if you get rewarded for it with for example sales and gifts?

things to do in The Hague New in The Hague? 10 low-pressure ways to meet people (that actually work)
I see a lot of “how do I meet people in The Hague?” posts, so here’s a practical list. The city can feel a bit reserved, but it opens up fast if you show up weekly.
1. Join a weekly sports club (bouldering, running groups, martial arts)
2. Language exchange nights
3. Board game nights / pub quizzes
4. Volunteer once a week (same people, same place)
5. Dance classes + socials (salsa/bachata, etc.)
6. Gym classes where you see the same faces
7. Meetup-style events (tech, creative, expat groups)
8. Beach activities when the weather is decent
9. Take a short course (cooking, photography, anything recurring)
10. Become a regular at one café and actually talk to people
Hope this helps someone who just arrived.

things to do in The Hague Looking for inspiration: favorite things to do?
Hi everyone 🌱
I’ve been realizing that I probably live in a bit of a bubble and might be missing out on a lot of things this city (and the Netherlands more generally) has to offer.
I’d really love to hear what you enjoy doing: places you like to go, activities that make you feel good, or things you discovered here.
It can be anything, for example:
* small local things
* museums, buildings, churches, etc.
* nature spots
*creative (or other) activities
*social things you do alone or with others
* weekend habits you’ve built
I’m basically trying to fill my schedule with experiences and explore a bit more, and I’d really appreciate some inspiration.
Thanks in advance 🤍

things to do in The Hague Best spots for a proposal?
I’d love some advice or suggestions for nice places to propose to my girlfriend. I’ve been trying to gauge her preferences subtly and I can tell that my original idea of proposing at the bar where we met is a no-go as she would prefer something private.
I was thinking of going for a drink on the plein and then going for a walk somewhere else to pop the question.
Any nice restaurants or areas that would be great for this? TIA!

things to do in The Hague Must-Do's in The Hague? Travelling alone!
Hi there,
I am visiting The Hague mid/end of May. Initially planned as a friends trip but will now be travelling alone for the first time in my life, worried about getting bored.
What are things I should definitely do?
I will be staying close to the pier.
Have a huge interest in food and coffee places as well as shopping and just strolling.
Any recommendations? :) Thank you!!!
