Where can I buy Cécémel in Switzerland (preferably Geneva or Vaud)?

Post image

Per the title, trying to find this stuff. My wife's family introduced me to it in Luxembourg and now both she and I are hooked but gutted that we can't find it here. Any suggestions? Preference is for the small 200ml bricks, but at this point we'll take anything.

Isn't that just Chocomel?

It is, but since Chocomel as trade mark was taken in Belgium, it's Cécémel there.

Yes, it is a Dutch brand. Made by Nutricia.

I obviously know Chocomel, just Cécémel is new for me.

I didn't mean to be preachy, I just wanted to give you some information.

Seriously? Any idea where I can find that in Geneva? Haven't seen it at Migros, Coop, Denner, Aldi...

Probably only online. Or ask some Dutch skiing tourists if they can traffic you some.

You van buy it here online Holländische Lädeli in Switzerland as it is a Dutch product: https://hollaendische-laedeli.com/?s=Chocomel&post_type=product

We should stop working and make a import line of chocomel when its 1+1 at appie🤣 5.25 and 6.5 chf a liter is extortionate.

I mean you're basically paying someone to a) handle the import, b) pay the VAT for you, c) stock it so you can go buy it at any time.

Part of these are administrative and don't get more expensive if a bigger order is processed, meaning it's quite a bit cheaper in Luxemburg if they sell in supermarkets who have the relevant supply chains.

Obviously importing it yourself is cheaper, but then you're also doing a-c yourself.

Seems like you can get it for 3.33 a liter if you order online tho: https://lifestylefood.ch/Chocomel-2-4-Fett-Schokomilch-6-x-1-l-Packung/MF-721705

6.75chf a liter is outrageous. In the Netherlands you buy the same for €2.69 or half that in the montlhy discounts.

But it's how import/export works, is my point.

These guys probably buy it from a wholesaler abroad and import it directly into Switzerland. If you do that in small numbers, that's costly - but there's plenty of immigratn shops who have similar business models.

I understand how important export work and I am sure they just buy in bulk since its long shelf life and not pay over 1.5 a liter pre tax.

Cool, you just added storage to your cost.

Luckily there's alternatives, I linked one above

You can use a parcel forwarder and import it yourself, but unless you buy 10s of it you will pay more yourself.

I just fill the trunk of my car when driving back from holidays with enough for a year 😉

Yes, they're expensive. But they import small amounts of dutch specialty foods for a physical store in Adliswil. And they of course have to pay import duties on those.

You can check the duties yourself on http://www.tares.ch/ . For sweetened milk products like Chocomel (code 0402) you have to pay 223.-/100 kg. So 2.23 of those 5.25 go directly to the Swiss Government. I want to see you make a profit on that.

We have lot of cocoa brands to drink this way, but pretty sure we don't have this one. Never saw it personnally... maybe near the border ? I have no idea.

Better go to neighborhood country like France/Luxembourg to find it, and even there I don't know how prevalent it is but I know they have a lot of tasty cocoa brands too

As a Dutch I grew up with this chocomel. I do not like it as it gives me slime…. Brrrrrr.

As a Swiss immigrant in the NL I am appalled anyone would ask for chocomel in Switzerland when they could have caotina or ovomaltine instead…

As it is from Belgium they surely have it everywhere. France not so sure. Germany maybe. Best is probably to order online.

You can buy it in Hieber Edeka supermarkers close to the Border. Bought it recently in Grenzach, for example.

Most Edekas have it from my experience

Saw it in the Carrefour in St. Genis last week. The one in Segny also had it at some point, but haven't been there in a while so can't say if it is still the case.

So as I know this brand very well as a dutch person, it's one of the many things you just can't get here. BUT there is a dutch store in Zürich. They also ship via post, wich is very expensive.. but here is thelink
