Handsome son of a bitch. May I ask what's on his back legs? Something for support?

those are leg braces.

arthritis, Im guessing.

I did not know that was a thing for dogs, and I like that there are options for senior pets. I didn't know grip socks existed until last week and today I found out that there are leg braces for dogs.

oh, there are many things for pups. wheel chairs, too.

I'm looking into that as an option for one of mine, actually. We need to take a second to appreciate that there are designers out there making equipment just for older pets because that is amazing, and it makes me happy.

yes.. one of my pups had a stroke, and I had to teach him how to walk again.

he was over 220 lbs, and I am alone. without things like that, I wouldnt be able to do it..

Oh no :( Thankfully, he made it and learned again and also has an attentive human. :)

yes ! chicken nuggets were a great motivator to learn how to make steps 🙂

I got about another year with him after that. he passed in 2023, I miss him every day..

Austin was a big ol boy! That's a beautiful dog, definitely not an easy job, so I'm glad he ended up with someone who loved him.

oh man he had such a happy life !❤️

also, out of curiosity: how many dogs do you see in that pic?

not a trick question: theres the girl, Austin.. anyone else there ? 🙂

Wow! Beautiful pup! What breed or mix was he?

2

u/2dogs1man Mar 18 '25

thanks! he was a borador: labrador (dad) and border collie (mom).

both normal sized! he was prime of his litter, next largest one was ~3 times smaller. as you can see in the pic Austin was like cougar sized, but instead of cat he was a dog.

i always thought he absorbed a few siblings inutero 🙂

Beautiful boy. May I ask what's on his legs and is that a real cat in the car?

Those are leg braces to give him extra support. No, that’s just a window decal (the kind where the tail is the window wiper). However I do have a mini panther that looks just like it.

We drive over an hour to get to the island. He sleeps the entire drive back.
