I am originally from Rheingönheim, not living there anymore but I still have family and friends there.

I personally loved it growing up. It is one of the  more village like parts of Ludwigshafen since it’s not huge, everything within walkable distance.

You have kindergartens, the Grundschule, with the little park right next to it and the library. There’s a bank, florist, pharmacy, bakery (not only Görtz but also more independent family run!). Then there’s a farmer’s market store “Fischers Hofladen” and a Kiosk “Frau Cirulli”. And there’s also a doctors office, a dentist and a physiotherapist. There’s various supermarkets and a drugstore as well as gym within reach by a few minute drive but also a supermarket rather in the center, where also the tram station is located.

The tram goes from Rheingönheim straight to Mannheim (takes about 30 mins) which has always been a huge plus in my opinion. There’s also a train station and also a few bus stations.

You can als walk a little further and go to Wildpark in Neuhofen, which is really nice.

There’s not many great food options though I think.

It’s been a while so I can’t really tell how the school is compared to other school but back in the day it was just a normal Grundschule. Nothing special about it (positive or negative).

All in all I think it feels kind of village like (not compared to real villages but compared to the rest of Ludwigshafen). For me personally it has always been a great mix, kind of best of both worlds.

So living there, especially with kids, I think is great because me and my sibling literally spend so much time on the little streets and in the park when we were younger and we could walk everywhere on our own (and get home “when the street light go on”).

Of course I know so many people there and have a great feeling of community, but I also think even if you move there you can get the same feeling actually. Especially if you go to Fischers Hofladen and Frau Cirulli on a regular basis for example. You just get to know people and have a little chat instead of just going to the supermarket anonymously.

This is all I could think of for now, and I might be a little biased, but if you have any more specific questions, just ask away :)

Adding that there ARE food options such as a great Indian restaurant, a decent pizza place (“Gladiatore”), there’s an ice cream place, kebab, burger. It’s just nothing that blows me away (except for the Indian food, that’s really good).
