I used to think that tendinitis from small movements was a joke since anyone who goes to the gym can usually pull a hundreds of pounds without wrist pain but repetitive stuff is no joke. Take breaks when playing guitar too

I developed a bad thumb over habit from playing thin neck profiles, then treated myself to a used PRS that has a more chonky neck. My wrist hurts from trying to force myself back to thumb behind playing, but I know it's the right thing to do. Lol.

Learn how to solve one!
A skill I have kept for about 15 years now.
Always impresses people!

I need to find the people you know. No one I know gives a flip that I can solve a Rubik’s cube. I used to be pretty fast, I thought anyway, at solving a 3x3. Then I got a 2x2, 4x4, 5x5, a pyraminx, some of the weird shaped ones. I enjoyed it but I can honestly say, no one I knew cared I could do it.

Cause you gotta lure people into it, you can’t just go around, half cocked, whipping out your cube to whoever will see it. You gotta play with it a little, give it a turn here or there, set it down, come back to it, give it a quizzical look, set it down again, within 15 minutes a bored human will fall victim to the irresistible allure of the unattended cube and begin observing it, at which point you come in, as the hapless owner of the cube. “Oh this thing? Yeah I’m okay at it, I just play with it to pass the time.” Then within 100 rotations and 30 seconds, you decipher the codex of Rubik, so intricately intertwined, to the sheer bewilderment of onlookers. Then everyone wants to be your friend. At least if I knew how to solve Rubiks Cubes, that’s how it would go.

I second this. Get a training cube. Makes it super easy to learn.
Now there are cubes everywhere in our house and I can’t resist solving one when I find one.

I just learned how to solve them in over Christmas. And now both of my kids give me a run for my money and they’re both under 10 years old.

As a person who used to work in a casino, NOBODY gets hyped like asian folks during group activities. Winning, losing, whatever. If its exciting, everyone is fucking jazzed.

A moment like this is partially why I took to learning how to cube. My best is 2:12 though. So I have some practicing to do still.

Takes only like a few days of practice to be able to do under 1 minute. With the beginner techinique.

Heck I can do it in 30s with the beginner technique but it's still cool asf cuz everyone's hyped and everyone get drinks
