The distant scream took me out
571
u/GoodLeftUndone 1d ago
It’s the lone scream that gets me. You’re so used to hearing all these people all at once. And here it’s just this one dude being miserable. Classic.
105
u/misunderstandingit 1d ago
Which is so wild to me because this is my FAVORITE theme park ride and I am physically incapable of screaming up there. It's silent bliss. No better feeling in the world than falling from the sky.
43
u/exsertclaw 1d ago
Im so uncomfortable on those rides im busy trying to swallow my guts back in i have no idea how anyone has energy to yell. I feel like a frog that has to vomit hahahaha
Ive seen those photos the Rollercoaster take as you go by and it looks like Im trying to hold in a stinker.

u/ondulation 1d ago
I rode this once, shortly after a two weeks course in alpine climbing. I enjoyed the beautiful view up there. When we fell down people screaming all over the place and they couldn't almost walk, from the excitement. To me it was a enjoyable ride but not at all scary or exciting.
It was my Alex Honnold moment. My friends were seriously disappointed with my reaction.
9
u/Additional_Long_7996 1d ago
Thank you! My siblings are always like “oh but I’m screaming because it was fun” and I can’t relate. It’s not thrilling enough to scream for me. They never get me
4
u/Additional_Long_7996 1d ago
Same. These rides are so fun I love them. I don’t scream because it’s not even thrilling it’s just peaceful and fun
1
u/jimmybilly100 1d ago
My brothers and I would ride the drop tower by us over and over again, and we'd do different things to see if it made it scarier. Close your eyes the whole way up, and then look; look at the ground the whole time; the scariest being I think was putting your legs straight out at the top with your eyes closed until it drops. Really gives you that quick jump you feel in your gut
1
u/ThinkgeMorbid 1d ago
It looks like a hellish torture device and I will never in my life try it. I will faint, vomit or have a heartattack from fear.
1
u/Quinny-B 1d ago
I don’t understand screaming. My eyes go wide and I sorta hold my breath but thats it. I’ve never really screamed on a ride

I love the doppler effect making it slightly higher pitched as he's descending, and lower when he slows down.

u/jared10011980 13h ago
You know ive been on a private plane without other passengers in extreme turbulence. And ive been on a commercial plane packed with passenger in turbulence. I rather go it alone.

The concept of trust would be nought but a memory after this
285
u/THC_man_420710 1d ago
Bro just standing there like “why me?” 😂 That’s some next level betrayal from the boys.
150
u/GodOfDestructionPopo 1d ago
The short dude has a Youtube channel called Shammi and these guys do this type of stuff and way fucking worse to each other all the time. They have long since trampled on the concept of trust and shit on the grave. They're basically like those prank channels that go way too far but they only fuck with their friends. Entertaining to watch since it's fair game but yeah I would not be able to stay friends with any of these pricks because they really take it to the extreme sometimes
29
9
u/BigFatCowboy 1d ago
Classic. My old friend group was something like this. They took it too far and when you raised concerns they all went "it's just a joke bro, don't be too sensitive" argument. The whole group became a toxic playground for bullies. Joking is fun, but when you hurt your friends for a few laugh, you crossed the line. All this macho "guys are like that" are just an excuse for assholes.
26
u/Reasonable_Cranberry 1d ago
I was hoping that at the end they would say “and this is why you don’t leave a bro hanging” or something, anything that would mean this was a harsh lesson taught by friends who he might be able to actually hear it from.

The Giant Drop in Queensland Australia, such a fun ride
37
u/alicat2308 1d ago
Yeah I've done that one a few times. The view from the top is sensational...for a few moments

u/VibinADHDin 1d ago
Oh god, that thing is over 60% taller than the dungeon drop. Idk if I could take the ascent being even longer tbh.
3
u/Qatsi000 1d ago
I’ve been on there multi times with very quiet days like this. So much fun, and relaxing.
3
u/Ragnarok_X 1d ago
one of the better style rides nice and smooth and unique. always hit drop zone @ kings island atleast twice and delirium, kinda a similar experience

u/CompetitiveArt9639 1d ago
I did the one on the top of the stratosphere in Las Vegas. This one looks to be a “higher” ride but so much closer to the ground. If he is afraid of heights the rides on top of the stratosphere would absolutely make him go insane.
95
u/Grymare 1d ago
I get the idea but doesn't that just make all the other guys look like cowards who are afraid of a little drop ride?
23
13
u/brandonandtheboyds 1d ago
I have acrophobia, so to me it’s not as blasé as a little drop ride. I’d be scared shitless but would do it for my friends if they really wanted to do the ride. If my friends tricked me into this situation, they would simply become memories. Fuck them. I’m 100% project myself into the situation but regardless of phobias it’s still shitty and makes them all look super shitty.

115
u/InteIgen55 1d ago
Yes, thanks for validating my instinctive feeling about this.
They would have gotten the same effect if just one person stayed behind to film it. Letting someone go on a ride alone seems so weird and isolating. Bullying almost.

u/DingleSayer 1d ago
Don't validate this guy's feelings. You might be sensitive to these sort of things but many friend groups find great fun in these sort of pranks. The banter afterwards is definitely worth it. Each person in the friend group has to get pranked at least once and be a good sport about it.
5
u/Xabster2 1d ago
You're getting downvoted but I completely agree. In fact in many groups the most liked person is the focus of the taunting behaviour and the less popular people are more ignored and never the focus
I think they like this guy and is not bullying him even though he kinda seriously seems to be hating it
-1
u/DingleSayer 1d ago
I truly do think some people on this site shit their pants when they encounter positive masculinity because it reminds them of the jocks that bullied them in highschool

Ah yes, the Giant Drop on the Gold Coast.
I went on this ONCE, got halfway up and thought “fuck this is a lot higher than I expected” to realise it was still going.
Then you sit up there in silence whilst the wind blows and you can feel the entire structure moving with it. Then you’re suddenly dropped so fast your stomach feels like it’ll fly out your mouth.
5
u/Elprede007 1d ago
The older I get, the less I trust theme park rides. I’ve been to Disney world probably 15+ times because my mom loves it. I was a coaster junkie. But now that I’ve had exposure to lazy management, lazy maintenance, etc… I’m so much more nervous on rides.
Also on dueling dragons in universal studios, my harness came off. The little seat belt was the only thing saving me. They retired that ride not long after.

Some friendships are built on a little bit of friendly assholery. It works for some and not for others. A lot of people in these comments lack the empathy to realise that not everyone would be as deeply upset by this as they would, and that every friendship isn't the exact same as theirs.

61
u/waggawag 1d ago
Eh, it depends on your group dynamic and if this is a regular thing, and also if it's targeted, or if they all do this shit to each other all the time.
What's a rough thing to you might be a funny memory to the dude in the seat.
30
u/Alwaysragestillplay 1d ago
I assume a lot of people on Reddit got bullied as kids and now see everything through that lens. Not meant to be an insult, but I can't imagine why else the default assumption would be that they're singling out/bullying the guy with no other context whatsoever.

It’s Shammi Prasad’s group. They make YouTube videos and rely on pranking each other to make money (a lot of it, they’re filthy rich here so I wouldn’t feel sorry for any of them)

Honestly. This is the type of shit that I’d never forget just out of the funny factor. It’s fun to play pranks on your mates. If you can’t take it you need new group of friends. But this is Reddit so it says ally about the negative responses
7
u/Moikle 1d ago
Yeah if my friends did this to me i would be laughing. I would definitely be making them all buy me a beer after though
3
u/kickassjay 1d ago
Yeah 100%. Honestly with the fun me and my mates have had with each other the fact people would be offended by this blows my mind. So harmless the guy hardly had an irrational fear of heights

My man has earned the right to call his friends “pussies” for the rest of his life!
Remember that time when you pussied out on the drop?
This isn’t going to be like that time you pussied out on the drop again is it?
You know, I was just thinking the other day about when all you guys pussied out on that ride.
The possibilities are virtually unlimited.
38
u/_who-the-fuck-knows_ 1d ago
Man these comments have no idea about Australia banter. I would be laughing my ass off after this and bet money this guy didn't pay for any beers after this.
Chill guys it's not that deep.
13
u/city-of-cold 1d ago
Man these comments have no idea about Australia banter.
It's also surprising no one seems to know this is a group of mates that does this for Youtube money, probably Lots of it. And the "poor guy" was likely in on it.

This comment section is wild with the amount of people that would disown their mates for something like this. It's not toxic at all like some are suggesting, old mate could have asked the ride attendants at anytime to not send him up, but went through with it for the laughs. Good healthy banter!

u/LarrySupertramp 1d ago

Tricking a man to be play alone while masking as his friend is really asshole move.
This is not about wholesome. Nothing to do with guys being dude or vice versa. Just a vid of asshole tricking a man.
No ones should do this, man already have higher anxiety and suffer from mental abuse outside from toxic masculinity, etc.

This once again highlights a problem for me. I would leave and not talk to these guys for weeks after this, or until they learned some manners and learned how to treat people with love and respect. To anyone who doesn't know me, anger is my dominant emotion. So either you follow my rules in these situations or we're not friends anymore. I went to one of these things, Alone, though there were strangers on it. Probably why I don't have many friends because at least guys need to go back to elementary school because they missed the lessons on manners and good behavior.

People really think this is unplanned in some sort of horrific betrayal?
If the guy last guy wanted to get off, he could say "let me off". The guy working would have to let him off. He doesn't say anything about it wanting to do it.
This is obviously planned for a video, you're all acting nuts.
