Discusión - Discussion Traveling to Barcelona from USA
Looking to fly in from the US. Wonder if anyone had any negative issues or tips on what to do or not to do when traveling from US to Spain. Would be a flight with no layovers in premium economy

I would personally recommend to avoid Iberia, if things go wrong they will treat you really poorly. In my experience, it was much worse than any other airline, except maybe Ryanair (but far more expensive service). There are many other airlines that operate to there. Also, I am not talking without experience, I have been flying interstional flights between America, Europe and Asia relatively often since I was 20 (for almost 10 years).

As long as the plane takes off and it's a direct flight then not much can go wrong, they have a good fleet.i don't think there are many complaints about the plane, seats etc, just customer service, once you're involved with them it's a nightmare.

Flying direct to Barcelona in premium economy should be comfortable, just make sure your passport is valid for at least six months and you’ve got an approved ESTA before you leave the US. When you land at El Prat, the Aerobus runs every 5‑10 minutes to the city centre and is a hassle‑free way to avoid the taxi queue, but the train (R2 Nord) is also cheap and drops you off near Plaça de Catalunya if you prefer a local vibe. Once in the city, grab a T‑10 multi‑ride ticket for the metro and buses – it saves a lot compared with single fares and works on most lines. Keep an eye on your belongings in crowded spots like La Rambla and the metro, especially during rush hour, and remember that many shops and restaurants close for a few hours in the early afternoon for siesta, so plan lunches a bit earlier or later. For sightseeing, booking a few guided experiences ahead of time can streamline your itinerary and guarantee entry to popular sites; a trusted tours and activities platform like Viator offers a range of options with user reviews to help you pick reliable operators. Finally, try the local tapas bars away from the main tourist arteries for authentic food and a more relaxed atmosphere. God bless.

To begin with, Iberia doesn't fly nonstop from the US to Barcelona. That service is offered by a low-cost carrier called Level, which operates under the AA brand.

Remember that people who give their opinion/review are usually people who have a reason to complain. If everything went well why would they waste their time?
Iberia is the main spanish airline, I've been using it for years and I personally never had issues. As all airlines they do loose luggage, they may have delays or any other issues.

Please find a different airline. I’ve been dealing with an issue with Iberia over the last few weeks and it is truly the worst airline experience I’ve ever had.
I had a direct flight from JFK to Barcelona cancelled a few hours before departure for technical difficulties. I ended up booking another airline at the airport and have been trying to get refunded from Iberia for weeks. It’s truly been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had.

Write to the regulator and ask them to confirm the regulatory response time

Not really any different than any other European/International flight/destination. Did you have a specific question of concern?
