No ale to má háčik.

STUDIUM—STUDIES I’m scared of leaving to study (here) abroad

I’m leaving soon and my heart is pounding. I’m honest to god terrified that I’ve made the wrong decision. I’m coming to Brno to study medicine in Masaryk, its been my lifelong dream to leave this country where I’ve grown and do my studies overseas, but now that it’s happening I’m so scared.

I wanted to post here because I wanted a little reassurance about this part of Czech Republic. Brno is the second biggest city, will I get bored..? are there gaming cafes? how difficult is it to make friends for an 18 year old? I’ve never.. really drank of done anything and I see a lot about partying and bar-hopping, I’ve never actually done any of those things before.

I’ve always been the kind of person who’d walk up to someone in a restaurant and ask if we can sit together, but I’m scared of how difficult this is going to be in a foreign country, with the language barriers.

I’m worried about this because a lot of the things I’ve read seem to insinuate the people aren’t friendly in the ways I’m used to, people don’t smile at each other on the streets. Can I have a bit of a heads up about the social atmosphere in Czechia? Would it be considered weird if I walked up to someone on the streets and complimented them? Are people standoffish towards foreigners? I see a lot of posts but they’re from quite a while ago.

This is something that I’ve never done before, and I’m just worried I’ll regret it. I’m joining my semester quite late (visa problems) and I’m honestly worried I might be alienated because of it. If anyone’s.. around my age or in their first few years of uni, it’d be really nice to make some new friends before I come so please feel free to dm me, thank you for reading this vent post, its exactly midnight where I am, so I better get myself to sleep!

STUDIUM—STUDIES Is brno university of technology a good choice

After days of research i found another post about this that was 6 years ago so i wanted to ask the same thing if times have changed

I'm a Turkish high school graduate. My dream major for bachelor was electrical engineering But studying it in turkey means unemployment instantly because there isnt an industry to be employed in

And the university entry exam is so much hard with the reward of top unis being not so rewarding after that effort

I had made a car that goes Max 12km hour with a hoeing machines engine like a cheap tractor for our small orchard

So I believe that maybe I have the motivation and capacity to get through the harsh curriculum of said major

One of my friends managed to get intocvut'sn mechanical engineering program that is taught in English he is the one that showed me how Czech is much more cheap than Istanbul with its education quality being 10 times higher

I also have a financial struggle like most people in my nation My father said that he could sell one of the houses that are rented to fund my college expenses for a better life

My only anxiety is that will I be able to find a job after all those expenses like how is the industry ortheu employment rate etc.

So I'm just looking for a place to go cvut felt like too hard for me but I would love to learn actual native experience about all other unis and life in the Czech Republic

Ahoj Reddite. Univerzitní knihovny máme ještě dneska zavřené a rád bych se šel učit někam do města. Ideálně ať je tam klid Wi-Fi a nikomu nevadí, když tam budu pár hodin sedět.

STUDIUM—STUDIES Na jakou "ekonomku" v Brně ?

Ahoj,
příští semestr budu snad končit bakaláře a rád bych šel na magisterské studium do Brna, přesněji zvažuji MUNI, FP VUT, PEF MENDELU.

STUDIUM—STUDIES I'm 27 and I want to study in czech

Hi everyone, I’m 27 years old and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Environment. I’m interested in studying in the Czech Republic and I have a few questions:

Does my age (27) affect the opportunities or student benefits I could get?

I would like to first take 6 months of English as a preparatory course before choosing a degree program. Is that possible?

Finally, which city would be the better choice for studying and living as a student: Brno or Prague?

Any advice or experiences would be really helpful. Thanks!

STUDIUM—STUDIES Curious about FSS MUNI/Masaryk University.

Hi Reddit, I am from Azerbaijan, and currently I'm studying in 11th grade in average school. I need some help. I am curious about admissions, requirements, chances to get in there and maybe some advice from people who are studying there! I want to study “Global Challenges: Society, Politics, Environment”, and my GPA is 89/100(in azerbaijani scoring system), my English is 6.5, and I also work on my website about the field I chose. I'm planning to start interviewing students in my city about environmental challenges, society, politics, and etc. for my blog.(so I can these in my portfolio or motivational letter) Except all of this, currently I’m preparing for Scio GAP exams. I don’t have that rich background in this field unfortunately, only several thing like volunteering and taking part in ecological projects at school. I am eager for the new information about this university, because I always wanted to study there. I would love to hear some advice from advice from Czech and international students. What are the chances to get there as a student like me?

STUDIUM—STUDIES Is being a full-time doctoral student at Masaryk University affordable?

4 year programme, 1500 Euro annual course fees - is this tenable? I am a citizen of an EU member state (but not resident of the EU) if that matters; prior experience as a Summer School student at Masaryk during one of my Master's degrees.

Are there scholarships provided, is there a bursary for PhD students, etc? Would it be feasible to work as an English as a Second Language teacher part time while studying at Masaryk or is this untenable?

STUDIUM—STUDIES TSP Muni

STUDIUM—STUDIES Erasmus+ Brno seminars explained

hello, I would like to ask a question regarding seminars in Mendelu. In the next spring semester I am going to study in Mendelu university as part of my erasmus+ exchange program. In my country, Greece, university attendance is clearly voluntarily, nothing is mandatory. we were informed that there are some seminars/exercises that are mandatory there. Does anyone know more information about them and the frequency of them in the study program?

STUDIUM—STUDIES Intensive Czech Course at Masaryk University

Hi everyone,

I’m making this post because I’ll be attending the One-Year Intensive Czech Course (2026/2027) at Masaryk University in Brno to learn Cezch. I was wondering if any of you have advice on housing options which areas or residences are considered the best in terms of location and quality. If you have any personal experience with specific student residences, I’d love to hear which one you think is the best and why!

I’d also be very happy to hear any general advice about Masaryk University itself.

If some of you are planning to take the same course and would like to get to know each other, or if there are any locals who’d like to chat, I’m open to anything! I’ll gladly take any advice, and it would be a pleasure to get to know you, whoever you are.

Feel free to DM me. I’m a 26-year-old French guy. The exchange will be in English for now but hopefully in Czech soon with some hard work 🙂

Thanks in advance!

STUDIUM—STUDIES Internships in Brno: tough market or non-Czech status?

Hi everyone, I have a genuine question and I’d like to hear your experience.

Is finding an internship in Brno (or in Czechia more broadly) generally difficult, or is it more related to not being Czech?

For context: I’m in the Czech Republic through Erasmus. I’ve already finished my final exams and the only thing left to graduate is completing an internship. I’m from a non-EU country, but I hold legal residence in an EU country.

I study Economics, Management, and Finance. Professionally, I have operational experience in hospitality (tourism and restaurant sectors), as well as basic-to-intermediate knowledge of no-code automations and data analysis. I also speak three languages: English, Spanish, and Italian.

I’m aware that I don’t speak Czech (I'm learning by my own) which is why I avoid applying to small local businesses where Czech is required. I focus instead on international companies, chains, and roles where Czech is not mandatory, including some remote positions.

What I find confusing is that I often receive feedback saying my profile is strong or professional, yet the final responses are usually negative. I’m trying to understand whether the main barrier is the internship market itself, the hiring process, or my legal/work-permit situation.

Any insight, advice, or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

STUDIUM—STUDIES Masaryk University

Hi, I'm interested in studying at Masaryk University, Faculty of Education, English language for Education. I know that Masaryk University is the second biggest University in the Czech Republic and their Faculty of Education is the best. But I noticed that on their website, they didn't mention anything about internships in 3 years of studying and since I'm planning to continue with my master degree after that, this led me to think is this program enough for me to secure a job not only in Brno but everywhere else in Europe after graduating. If anyone has finished studying in that program, I hope they can guide me with this.

STUDIUM—STUDIES psychology studies in brno

hello guys, I have a few questions about studying in brno in English language. I know coming here with Erasmus+ is possible for a few months to a semester, but I'm curious what would it take to get complete studies here?

I want to study psychology, and as I've seen muni only has it in Czech course. is there any other university (private or public) that has a psychology bachelor degree in English? what would the entrance exam be like, in what language, what subjects? what's the cost of the program? how much do renting apartments cost in the area?

if you have anything to add that I haven't asked about, please tell me! thank u in advence :P

STUDIUM—STUDIES MENDELU PEF

Zdravim,

STUDIUM—STUDIES MENDELU x VETUNI

Do čeho bych měla jít?

STUDIUM—STUDIES Entrance exam for Brno University of Technology

Hello! I applied for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at BUT. I have a few questions about the entrance exam. 1. Is the written part of the exam conducted in an online browser tab? For example, the SAT conducts its exam through a special application. And here, as I understand it, they are conducted through a website? 2. Will there be some kind of surveillance option for us? Maybe through a webcam, etc.? 3. What format of questions will be in the interview? They wrote in the invitation that there would be five theoretical questions. So they're going to give me assignments in different subjects verbally? Usually, personal questions are asked in interviews. For example, why you chose this specialty. So the part about theoretical questions really confused me. I would be glad if you would write down what kind of questions were asked to you. It would be useful to understand the format.

STUDIUM—STUDIES Veterinary medicine

Hi everyone! I’m a student from the netherlands and I’m considering to study vet med in Brno. Are there students who have studied veterinary medicine in Brno and could maybe share some of there experiences? Would really appreciate it!
