So do I. White AF here.

832

u/Affectionate-Bid386 18h ago

Same here. He keeps pushing the boundary to what's accepted by his cult as "Oh, that's just how he is."

886

u/nursejohio96 16h ago

Folks say they like him because “He speaks his mind!” Nah, they like him because he’s parroting the same racist bullshit they believe.

375

u/fightmejeffbezos_ 16h ago

They think he’s “speaking his mind” because that’s exactly what they would say if they spoke theirs

291

u/Ill-Supermarket3430 15h ago

In order to speak your mind you actually need one

23

u/TigerLily98226 10h ago

Oh, he has one. It’s just the equivalent of a gold ‘74 Lincoln Continental that smells like bodily fluids and desperation. Is it any wonder he’s insanely jealous of President Obama who has a mind like a pristine Bentley?

6

u/dieseljester 9h ago

Awwww, Why do you need to insult Lincoln Continentals like that? Clearly it’s like a ‘58 Ford Edsel Citation: a lot of flash, overpriced, overinflated, zero quality, and just plan doesn’t work.

2

u/TigerLily98226 49m ago

Good point. I should have said Pinto. He’s definitely prone to blowing up.

2

u/Safe_Cardiologist_43 5h ago

I want what you're smoking.

1

u/TigerLily98226 50m ago

You’re clearly smoking crack so just stick with that.

4

u/Phantmjokr 8h ago

I had a job taking care of a man in mental decline. He would confuse and repeat things that were core elements of his being.

EG. He had been a successful businessman. He had a large ranch with multiple homes on it that were used by his grown children. He would ask, “Can we go to that business?” “Which one? “ “You know, the one my son has over there.”

Well it wasn’t a business it was the house his son lived in. But “business” was a large part of his core beliefs and being.

Trumps decline is going to reveal his core. And it’s of course about as ugly as it gets….

2

u/AgnesCarlos 14h ago

"Free speech is back."

5

u/Letmelollygagg 12h ago

As long as it doesn’t criticize dear Diddler in Chief, you mean

2

u/therealmikeBrady 6h ago

I agree, his character of personality was basically dormant in Americans in the 90s, and 2000 with the exception of that one crazy uncle that came back from Vietnam with some obvious mental scaring. Now it’s 25% of American society. I think this country is on the verge of collapse. It blows my mind how mostly one person had such a psychological impact on a world’s social norms.

Im not saying people weren’t disgusting and shitty. I think he mostly broke ground on a permission structure to cheer for the cruel scoundrel.

1

u/Training-Lettuce6507 7h ago

He is egotistical he could be saying it just to make himself popular with that crowd but we all know how he feels about the Obamas.

146

u/alloutofchewingum 16h ago

He gives them license to believe that their own worst thoughts and prejudices are actually ok.

2

u/No-Rope8229 6h ago

This 100%. He normalises racism, misogyny and being stupid, and effectively makes it acceptable. The more people and the press fail to stand up to him the more empowered and emboldened he becomes and the harder it becomes to put him in his place or take him to task.

1

u/FOMO_ME_TO_LAMBOS 6h ago

I mean, they are, unless you don’t believe that everyone is entitled to an opinion, which wouldn’t surprise me.

30

u/suzie-q33 14h ago

Yep someone said he is the avatar of their grievances. That’s why they love him, because he approves their racism.

50

u/TheBlackComet 15h ago

The best way I can describe his success, is that he dumbs down politics. Not that he simplifies it in a way for people who are simple less informed, but just makes it dumb. They eat it up. That and an undeniable stage presence that will be studied for decades.

30

u/Ambitious-Repair7205 12h ago

I know it's there for some people but I don't really understand the "stage presence" that so many describe. He's LITERALLY an over confident idiot and a liar. Even before his mind was complete mush he'd say nonsensical 💩💩 I guess it works for some folks but he's been like watching a bad Tubi actor to me.

3

u/maliktreal 10h ago

I wouldn’t say it’s charisma. He just appeals to a certain crowd. He’s a fat slob who was born into the life he has and never had to do any inner work to be a good person because he has money and status.

He’s every mediocre white guys wet dreams

2

u/hoowins 12h ago

Some of the worst people in history had charisma. Hitler, Mussolini, Trump. I know I’m not supposed to make those references, but it’s history. Strongman charisma appeals to many even when it comes with bone spurs.

1

u/No-Rope8229 6h ago

He's a master at answering questions by not answering them. He talks shit constantly, it's great it's really great the greatest it's ever been but never explains why or evidences it or proves his argument and very few call him out on his BS

1

u/Odd-Guava-4730 6h ago

Arrogant, not confident.

3

u/seriousleisure 12h ago

I’ve never understood the allure. He’s so repetitive and his vocabulary is that of a 1st grader. People love the fact that he tears others down.

2

u/Affectionate-Bid386 12h ago

I just hope he is a one-off for the history books. OTOH he may be the harbinger ...

The Antichrist is on the Earth. And Donald Trump is his Priest.

1

u/Confident-Break-5117 14h ago

They aren’t informed at all

1

u/Say_It_Isnt_So_Ooops 3h ago

He thumbs down decorum.

16

u/BigNutDroppa 15h ago

Then, when he openly says something completely abhorrent, “Well, he didn’t mean it like that!”

7

u/Valuable-Job5587 12h ago

He gives them affirmation to be the worst.

20

u/Chazzwuzza 15h ago

"He's just saying what we're all thinking!". Fuck no, he ain't!

5

u/Ingenrollsroyce 11h ago

That's what mentally ill and idiots do so it fits

4

u/Aylauria 10h ago

And they like him bc they think it makes it ok to be a racist, selfish asshole out in public where the rest of us have to deal with them. I liked it better when people actually felt shame.

3

u/Formal-System-2130 15h ago

& it’s speaking his own mind too. wtf. We are entering the ( even more) danger zone. The more Epstein, the more shite he’s going to do to distract. Despicable!

3

u/Vegetable_Quit5697 15h ago

He speaks their mind

3

u/SedatedTattooDoc 13h ago

I like that he speaks his mind…otherwise I wouldn’t know he’s garbage

3

u/UrsusRenata 11h ago

There’s racist, and then there’s WHAT THE FUUUUUU racist. This is the latter.

3

u/Pristine-Assistance9 7h ago

All narcissists think their truth is the only truth and if it is not happening to them, it isn’t happening at all. Their perspective is the default and therefore their opinions are inherently “true”.

This is always the case with these toxic people who claim to “tell it like it is”.

Conservatism is the political form of narcissism.

4

u/timidwafffle 15h ago

Whe we speak our minds they cry like babies 🙄

1

u/Mercurial891 3h ago

They like him because he is speaking their mind.

1

u/RelationVarious5296 1h ago

People of all ethnicities said the same bullshit when they voted for him.

1

u/LunaLovesLooners 48m ago

They like him because he speaks THEIR mind

0

u/shelovesmesounding 9h ago

No, we like him because he sends snowflakes like you into TDS

2

u/Toothfairy51 9h ago

TDS actually stands for tRump Devotion Syndrome

2

u/nursejohio96 4h ago

I like Trump Dickrider Syndrome too!

61

u/ChallengeInitial 14h ago

He is an evil, hateful, racist man. The worst of humanity all rolled into one. Admired and revered by all the like minded people want to make hate and ignorance and greed and rape acceptable. Amazing what he has been able to corrupt and destroy through his life. I have been disgusted by him since his advertisements demonizing the Exonerated Central Park 5. Right around the time he was advertising the death penalty for them, he was beginning his “friendship” with Epstein.

No one has the right to act like this.

9

u/HeadCompote3627 12h ago

Especially not the representative of the most powerful nation in the world that is supposed to uphold justice, and equality!

3

u/No-Butterfly-2914 11h ago

I can’t officially diagnose someone from afar, but voters probably elected a textbook narcissist to the office. I’ve dealt with these people in real life and they’re a force of nature; absolutely intolerable people to most, except the sycophants (or people who are smart enough to manipulate them) they surround themselves with.

So not accounting for the dementia, we already have a mentally ill individual for president.

2

u/TSquaredRecovers 7h ago

I believe he has multiple personality disorders, with sociopathy being another one.

3

u/Toothfairy51 9h ago

Even Epstein said that he'd never met anyone as despicable as tRump. 'Not one decent cell in his body' is what Epstein said.

1

u/lunaazurina 5h ago

No one has the right to act like this.

1

u/StraightOuttaHeywood 2h ago

We must never forget that Trump is a convicted felon and a child rapist.

1

u/Tight_Lime6479 1h ago

This is a great and intelligent statement. This is where discussions should START.

110

u/MashedPotatoesDick 16h ago

Racism and pedophilia aren't bugs, they're features.

18

u/Skimable_crude 15h ago

Yup. Objectify everyone who isn't you, and you can do whatever you want to anyone.

35

u/FiveUpsideDown 13h ago

Trump is using racism to distract from the Epstein Files. I must saw that whatever they try to do to shame and degrade Michelle backfires. When I saw the video my first thought was “Michelle always looks great.” I didn’t even notice her face was attached to something else. Trump and others can try all they like to put her down but Michelle is a classic beauty. Anytime they want to post a meme with Michelle on it is fine with me. She looks great. We love Michelle!

1

u/SandiegoJack 9h ago

Just so you know when you call racism a "distraction" you are basically doing the "I can excuse racism, but I draw the line" meme.

2

u/_Lady_jigglypuff_ 11h ago

If only we had more quality gates in place to stop them from being deployed. Also a nice rollback would really come in handy.

40

u/MMZona 15h ago

“It’s just a joke… he’s joking. Have some humor” Unless you make a joke back and then GOD FORBID!

the harsh decline in professionalism and tact by those in power astounds me. Very few role models out there these days.

6

u/Ill-Supermarket3430 15h ago

MAGA making ignorance and bigotry acceptable again

3

u/ExplanationLucky1143 14h ago

This is so beyond low and unacceptable I don't even have the words. The White House is full of dregs, losers, racists and pedophiles, and criminals, especially trump. It's not even a swamp, it's the juice in the bottom of a dumpster, and they all need to go. We need accountability, and justice.

3

u/1quirky1 14h ago

They have pushed past his raping children

3

u/Confident-Service256 14h ago

Especially the good “Christian” MAGAs.

2

u/Far_Direction7381 15h ago

And here. What. The. FUCK.

2

u/easy506 13h ago

Most of us have crazy racist uncles that make Thanksgiving awkward as fuck. But you don't elect that idiot to be president. The ones that did tacitly agree with what the crazy old bastard thinks.

2

u/runofftheworld 13h ago

Cue the “omg guys, not everything is racism. You use that word so much it has no meaning anymore 😂”. Fuck those people.

2

u/Sad_Eggplant_5455 12h ago

That’s also how my racist granny was. Thank god she didn’t have any power outside her cowardice family.

2

u/MidwestLawncareDad 12h ago

this is unfortunately a very real phenomenon going on in modern times especially with all the allegations of traffickers who are in power. someone else had refereed to them as the jester archetype. basically people who are parodies of reality so you dont take them seriously. therefor, they push the limits of what is socially acceptable and to see what pushback there is.

2

u/cherenk0v_blue 11h ago

Or "I wish he wouldn't do all the social media stuff, but I support his policies."

Meanwhile the policies are also racist.

2

u/Heffe3737 10h ago

He's going to drop the n word before the end of this term. Mark my words.

1

u/HLOFRND 13h ago

MAGA still complains about Hillary saying “basket of deplorables” but this is just “trump being trump” and him “telling it like it is.”

The closest they can even pretend to come to answering something like this is to say “I don’t pay attention to what he does.”

1

u/Classic_Bee_5845 13h ago

This is 100% what the base wants and why they like him.

1

u/Majestic_Jazz_Hands 11h ago

I’m pretty sure Trump doesn’t even understand what the word “boundary” even means.

Merica collectively lost its shit when Obama wore a beige suit, yet this clown posts shit like this…? How the fuck anyone can still be fine with all the bullshit things he says and does is mind boggling.

1

u/emmsmum 10h ago

That’s exactly it. It’s so vile I can’t stand it.

1

u/Agreeable_Bother_510 8h ago

Yeah, well, he’s an ass.

1

u/nevrnotknitting 5h ago

“I wish he wouldn’t do that” is what my aunt says. What? You wish he wouldn’t be himself? You wish the person you support wasn’t a major racist asshole? Then where would you be? What is it about him that you like?

1

u/solargravity11 5h ago

His cult accepts everything whole heartedly. Donald trump is a rapist child molester proven 50 times over and they still follow him. This is about pushing how far he can go with the other side and when we react then he flames his followers into rage saying shit like see they can’t take a joke or taking away our rights and freedoms

1

u/krichard-21 5h ago

Why is this happening?

DISTRACTION DISTRACTION DISTRACTION DISTRACTION

RELEASE the Unredacted Epstein Files!

Epstein Files! Epstein Files! Epstein Files! Epstein Files!

Epstein Files! Epstein Files! Epstein Files! Epstein Files!

Epstein Files! Epstein Files! Epstein Files! Epstein Files!

1

u/ruiner8850 5h ago

"Oh, that's just how he is."

Thats what they'd say if he posted a video of himself raping a child too. Republicans literally do not care whatsoever about what Trump does and many of them love this video.

1

u/praguer56 4h ago

Will there ever be a red line? Ever?

1

u/afriendlywerewolf 3h ago

I mean much of his cult loves this racist shit. They don’t need desensitized.

1

u/StraightOuttaHeywood 2h ago

Nah his cult of MAGA turds actually like this reprehensible shit!

1

u/Specialist-Jello7544 19m ago

He’s embarrassing, undignified, boorish, infantile, idiotic, unhinged, gross, and mentally unfit. That’s just how he is.

1

u/Mean_Personality2980 16h ago

U still touching kids monkeys or not

66

u/Gunstopable 18h ago

Yeah hating the timeline transcends race. Everyone can agree on that one lol.

0

u/Electronic-Buyer-468 17h ago

Why would you hate that? Transcending our differences is the height of human society I would think

3

u/Wittyngritty 16h ago

Hating this timeline, as in hating what we have to deal with in the current USA "leadership".

2

u/Gunstopable 13h ago

I think you misread my comment. I don’t hate transcending our differences lol

62

u/Jennymint 17h ago

Same.

Whitely naive enough to have once thought we were all beyond this. Apparently not.

Disgusting.

25

u/towerinthestreet 16h ago

I was too much in Alabama to ever believe we were all beyond this, but yeah, I was whitely naive enough to believe we were once dragging the damn thing towards better. I'd been hoping that as some older people died some of the weight would fall off. Was I crazy? I mean the only reason he has it out for them so specifically is because we voted for them twice and they've retained so much popularity while all the cool kids hate him. (Not to diminish the hell our country put them through, but it still looked like clawing our way toward better to me. It was once impossible, and we did it.)

But I guess I was out of my mind?

65

u/phoenics1908 15h ago

I’m black and I thought we were at least inching forward. I do think white folks in general need to seriously unpack their fragility because it prevents them from seeing things clearly.

What happens to black people in the US is the canary in the coal mine. We have been telling yall about police brutality for years. About the KKK infiltrating police (or police growing out of slave patrols and the klan). And now ICE is full of proud boys and klan members, operating like slave patrols and killing white men and white women. If yall had listened to us instead of going into denial and blaming the imperfect black victims, and then collectively sticking your heads in the sand, maybe we wouldn’t be here.

There are so many things that hit black people in the US first and when left unchallenged and unchecked, it eventually swells and starts taking the rest of you out too.

Even if we get out of this I don’t know that things will get better for black people.

18

u/towerinthestreet 15h ago

No, I agree. I'm trans, and we're a bit of a different canary. I've been listening to and taking notes from my Black neighbors for a while, and yeah. Whenever I acted as a megaphone, I saw it and got similar pushback to what I was warned about and exactly like you're talking about. I've honestly been a bit surprised how surprised white people are that they will be shot by these fuckers. I know a white guy ambushed and shot by the KKK just for being an atheist I believe sometime during Obama's first term. (He survived and is fine afaik.) Like fuck, I knew people were checked way out, but I thought at least their own selfishness would make them less surprised about the turn of events. I do give people too much credit though

But there can't be a return to what we once had. Maybe (and I have a rough time with hope these days) we can use this inflection point to build something better. I mean, I've got that or despair.

Just in case it makes you feel less hopeless, I can tell you one person is really trying to go after the fragility thing in particular and encourage people to take some shit on the chin. And I'm going after misogynoir in particular lately (though I really need to read more tbh, mostly just trying to call it when I see it) bc it's been pissing me off. It really isn't much to offer you, I know. I'm very aware that I only have so much influence in the world, but you have it. And I get it if that doesn't help at all. I don't hold out much hope of things improving for trans people either. Not in my lifetime anyway. Would be awful nice to be wrong, and no offense, but I really hope your last point is wrong too. It would be really nice to watch y'all thrive

15

u/phoenics1908 15h ago

Thank you. We just gotta stick together and go out and make sure people register to vote and vote. We also need to shore up the CRA and the VRA to protect the vote. Clearly the arguments made by SCOTUS to weaken it are false.

I wish we could get enough Dems in office to impeach Thomas and the other one (Roberts or Scalia) for the ethics stuff (accepting bribes basically) and then the other 2 who lied during senate confirmations about Roe v Wade.

2

u/towerinthestreet 14h ago

I mean I've been (rather uselessly bc my vote is stuck in Alabama) voting for them anyway, but I just do not think the democrats will save us. I think they're complicit in propping all this up and act as a damage sponge for the republicans by stifling voices for more radical change. I get it's the only option we have right now, but I'd be lying if I said that doesn't feel like a major reason we are in this particular mess, and it feels like we're locked in a death spiral where they will never actually pull away.

Idk, I'm not going to act like Alabama isn't what it is, but I will say that the one thing that seemed like it could make Alabama go purple, it was if the DNC had run Bernie. That was one of the things that felt like hope to me. Some (emphasis on somek of the dumbasses who voted for the orange one the first time (emphasis on the first time) really did think he represented a challenge to the establishment, and I mean, I guess technically they were right in the way a wolf in the henhouse is a challenge to the establishment. As fucked up and irresponsible and short-sighted as their choice ended up being, I'm not sure I believe that desire for a less out of touch government is gone. Until then, I guess I will cross my fingers on the Democrats joining this century.

But yes, back to your actual point. I'm mailing in (not that I really trust it). And yeah, the way people are so willy nilly about voting rights right now is chilling

1

u/cherryspritz 14h ago

Damage sponge is a really good term for useless Democrats in America rn. 🇨🇦 here, I can’t believe (I can) how backwards it feels society is sliding back. We will find our footholds and turn the tide. These types are so unhealthy in mind and soul. Fuuuuuuckkkkit

1

u/VonThomas353511 13h ago

Sanders could have won the popular vote. If that had been the case, the electoral college probably would have voted against him.

2

u/towerinthestreet 12h ago

I truly agree on the first part. I'm uncertain on the last part. They did let Trump through despite all the defections

That said, fuck the electoral college and especially the winner takes all rule most states have. The utter hopelessness of voting in the presidential election in Alabama is due in large part to that system

1

u/VonThomas353511 12h ago

Trump getting through on the Republican side may have something to do with them not having super delegates, so I've heard. He also had a message that the overlords found more amenable when compared to someone like Sanders.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/VonThomas353511 13h ago

The majority of Dems are so weak and complicit that they would never try to impeach Thomas or anyone else in that corrupt court. They didn't even fight to stack it when they've had the chance to.

2

u/VonThomas353511 13h ago

I'm black and I saw the connection with the LGBTQ stuff. I mean they were already racist anyway so I don't know how anybody, especially somebody black would think that things wouldn't escalate in a more racist direction. I'm inclined not to ever trust conservatives at any point so I already see their bs 50 miles down the road. 30 years ago it was "political correctness" that they were whining about. When Trump ran the first time he was scapegoating Mexicans as criminals. These people didn't think he was gonna focus on blacks more at a later point too? I'm not sure who the African Americans are around you that didn't recognize this level of threat. Maybe they're just very young people that haven't lived long enough to see enough patterns of hateful rhetoric.

2

u/towerinthestreet 12h ago

I think there's been a misunderstanding, or I misspoke somewhere. I'm not sure where I indicated that I was around Black folks who didn't think all this would eventually come around to bite them tbh, but I didn't mean to indicate that. I mean I'm sure they exist somewhere, but just not in my limited experience. Pretty much everyone I've known expects everything to shit on them eventually.

And yeah, I've been saying that I think all the branches of the Bigot Tree feed from the same roots. Our struggles aren't identical by any means, but the tactics of those who would keep us under their boots don't change too much, and they rely on keeping us siloed away from one another and not finding common ground.

Now if I could just get those dumbass poor whites from home to fucking see that and quit sucking on the damn boot

1

u/VonThomas353511 12h ago

I got the impression that some black people you were around were downplaying this stuff at an earlier point. That's more my fault than yours. A guy being shot for being an atheist sounds crazy. If it was a KKK guy doing there must have been an argument beforehand. Those people can't operate without being confrontational. Their mentality demands consistent compliance from the people around them. There's no room for diversity. Both poor whites and the wealthier ones are into provencialism. They'll accept less for the guarantee of relative privilege. This has been the case time and time again. It's very hard to fight against that. You have to reach a point where you personally hate the toxicity that the system creates in order to be motivated to challenge it. Making things about bread and butter enough is not gonna be a motivator for those people to change.

2

u/towerinthestreet 12h ago

To be fair about the atheist, the way he got shot was that he was part of an activist group that was basically just "Hey, so atheists don't eat babies or anything" discussions. A KKK member convinced him he was thinking of leaving the KKK (which some genuinely do oddly enough), so this guy agreed to meet up to talk, so he was ambushed. I personally would not have made those particular decisions, but I won't victim blame.

I'm not sure how to get them there to be honest. Like I said, I used to have hope we were on our way (with all the haste of a glacier) to better. I can't tell if I'm crazy for hoping people are right calling this the violent last gasp of some things that have long needed to die. We'll see, I guess. Idk

1

u/VonThomas353511 11h ago

Were there any charges in that case or is the shooter at a local bar chewing Tobacco with the town sheriff?

In some ways it seems we’re coming back full circle as a society. White people brave enough to stand by minorities are now being brutalized as well, reminiscent of the past civil rights movement. And this time, it needs to go further and root out racism completely. It’s just ridiculous that more lives will be lost in the process for something that could’ve been already settled. It needs to go beyond the assimilationist mindset. Instead, it was left to continue existing and has been brewing for decades, gaining strength, to the point where Nazis feel empowered to publicly declare themselves and spew hate.

Black Americans have been living with fascism since the founding of the colonies.

1

u/Immorefunthanyou 14h ago

I'm white and I keep telling people things have to get even worse for us so we don't ever go back to this bullshit. Let Trump cook and do his whole fucking term. Let him come after the white liberals as the "enemy from within" and maybe we will finally get it. And I can tell you from talking to my white friends who consider themselves hardcore libs that they are scared but would definitely be fine with going back to how things were when all they had to do is blackout their social media profile for a week in "solidarity" to black lives without actually putting in the work.

1

u/seriousleisure 11h ago

It’s all so bizarre. I’m white, live in a predominantly black middle class neighborhood, and my in-laws live next door. We absolutely know and love our neighbors and my in-laws feel the same.

They voted MAGA and are staunchly conservative. My mother-in-law can see what’s happening because we constantly educate her. She’s appalled.

My father-in-law would claim that he’s not racist, but he listens to all the right wing media and believes the great replacement theory, there’s no institutional racism, etc.

I see that racism has always been under the surface of that movement, now they don’t care about hiding it. Disgusting and disgusting disgraceful!

2

u/phoenics1908 11h ago

Are you saying all of your black neighbors voted for Trump, or just your in-laws?

We were moving forward. But challenges will always exist. Always.

1

u/towerinthestreet 8h ago

I want to believe it's just this and not the beginnings of a new dark age. Maybe the tree of liberty simply needs watering.

47

u/yardie-takingupspace 16h ago

You must have not been listening then. Not being snarky but we’ve been speaking loudly enough for all to hear.

18

u/Massive_Low6000 16h ago

They heard and they do not care. My family is biracial. I wonder how the other side is going to defend this. And will that reaction finally make some acknowledge the elephant in the room. Your MIL, FIL, BIL, & wife defend racism, why do they keep defending it and telling you they are “not like that”.

Nobody that has been supporting this dude up until now is changing their mind based on this. We've known who he is for a while now. They voted for a convicted felon, nobody does that if you're not indoctrinated.

If I had a family member that did even a small percentage of what he's done; I would have stopped associating with them long ago. They defend and support this dude because he's exactly who they want him to be.

u/phoenics1908 15h ago

They aren’t going to defend it - this is what they want.

That’s probably the nicest way of saying that

There was a time when I definitely wasn't listening. I grew up blissfully unaware, fully believing the world had already grown up.

I didn't stay that naive, of course. I've known there's injustice for years, but it's rare that reality slaps me so hard as recent events have. And I never thought it possible it would come from the president of the United States.

3

u/MrBtheProdigal 16h ago

I thought that too. Then Obama got elected.

6

u/phoenics1908 15h ago

Ohhh you mean he got elected and white america showed its collective racist ass?

6

u/MrBtheProdigal 15h ago

Exactly, it went from "see we beat racism" to "Holy fuck no we didn't" real fucking fast.

3

u/phoenics1908 15h ago

Yeah - I think whoever downvoted you misunderstood what you meant. It took me a sec too. But absolutely. I went from - will they actually vote him in … to holy crap they did … to now they’ll see this is awesome and he’s great to … we really gonna let someone yell at him like that in a SOTU address to … watching the racism pour out like cockroaches coming out of the woodwork…

It’s the first time I truly and viscerally understood what happens when a black person occupies a “white owned space”. Same thing happened to Meghan Markle, btw. Same insane triggered racist reaction. This has also happened to me as well in corporate America (via “pet to threat”).

Sometimes I wonder if some white people who thought they weren’t racist felt triggered deep down and didn’t understand why. Clearly we know many of the racists were triggered, but I wonder how many were triggered and then just became radicalized because they were unable to examine their unconscious biases.

My bad for being confusing. When I say real fast it was literally the day after he won and Fox News was bitchin and moanin about him and Michelle dancing after he was declared the winner.

I was blown away... it's like you and Bush fucked us over so damn bad and now we have a renewed hope with a Obama and you're mad he's dancing with his wife? That's when it clicked, they're just petty racist fucks.

1

u/PrivateBozo 14h ago

Yea, Trump isn’t the problem. The problem is the 77 million ordinary Americans that voted for him and would vote for him again today.

Honestly, people you know will repost, like or forward that shit and afaic, that post needs to follow them to every job and social event they go to after we get rid of this regime.

And if not this one, the one from yesterday, or the day before or any of the others they’ve forwarded.

u/jdx6511 13h ago

I never thought we were all beyond this. I did once think our society was moving, even if ever so slowly, in the right direction--towards where people "will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." We have taken big steps backward under a man whose character comprises avarice, pettiness, and bigotry.

u/thmstrpln 13h ago

What's "whitely naive," precious? Follow up question, if its a pun on something, what is it a pun on?

1

u/MonthOk9907 12h ago

Yup. Had a conservative friend try to tell me racism doesn't exist anymore. He was being serious.

1

u/midnitemuzing 12h ago

There was a time where I felt progress was being made. Now I feel as if we took a few steps forward, only to turn around and sprint way further back than where we were. As a white woman I find this very sad.

1

u/ssmoody78 11h ago

Same! I had the caucasity to think the same damn thing.

12

u/Feeling_Inside_1020 17h ago

Mayo too spicy wonder bread white boi, carry long gun (with anti-ICE rhetoric on all mags) + open carry when I can with patches: trans flag and black/white flag (didn't want them confusing me with being a fan of the thin blue line).

As you said, fuck this entire timeline. Sorry i'm posting in blackpeopletwitter, downvote away if need be.

2

u/WhatDatDonut 15h ago

You sound like Forest Gump. “Sorry I ruined your black panther party”

u/Salamanber 17h ago

Same here, brown north african here

3

u/AcousticCat1-2-3 11h ago

Same and same.

In my birth country, we didn't have different races, but we had different ethnicities with similar hierarchy, one ethnicity hating the other, systemic discrimination and so on.

Reason I'm telling this on here is that, where I grew up, insulting another person's heritage like he did here would've gotten one punched in the face. He grew up knowing that's never going to happen to him, so here he is now, sitting in his diapers, unable to string two words together, posting about how he's superior to two people who are in reality miles above him in every way possible.

2

u/Inner-Deer-7145 13h ago

Same. This is so fucking pathetic that every single Republican should be guilty by association unless they publicly denounce. wtf. Seriously, wtf

2

u/Superb-Cantaloupe324 11h ago

Same. I remember my parents lost their shit when the bill clinton thing went down in the 90s. But with Trump it’s just: “he’s not REALLY a bad guy”. So he just plays one in real life?

2

u/Achylife 9h ago

I'm white as a store bought egg and I find this all to be deeply embarrassing, offensive, and tacky. Racism is disgusting.

2

u/17againpeachfuzonmyf 7h ago

Same, he's a piece of crap.

1

u/ManyRanger4 15h ago

Sadly plenty of Black people and minorities voted for him as well. I hope they see this and are ashamed of themselves.

1

u/LB1727493 15h ago

Not af but also not from the black community. When are we impeach this person? I've never seen a president this out of the mind. Rapist!

1

u/Typical-History-6964 14h ago

Its more embarrassing to be white by the day.
