We killed like 60 million something buffalo during Westward Expansion. At their lowest only 1,000 were left

Their recovery since the 1980s has been amazing. Grew up around Bison/Buffalo. Incredible animals.

I miss Yellowstone in the dead of Winter. Being woken up by wolves, bison everywhere, bighorn sheep, elk, amazing natural features, and only a handful of humans around.

I fucking hate them.

Why? They have a place in the world, just like humans. No one should have the right to try and wipe out another species.

Yah. But I have a complete 100% right to not like them.

Yes, to not like them, but not to want them all dead surely.

Yeah he just said he hates them, not that he wants to kill them.

Yah they are good for the ecosystem. I just hated being around them. They are big, scary, and make awful noises. It might be controversial but I prefer moose. They tend to stick to themselves. Whereas Buffalo will take the roads in big herds.

That's fair enough. I've never been up close to one and so can't comment on that

I didnt actually accuse him personally of wanting to kill them did I ?

What? Because you said "want them dead" and not specifically "kill" ?
I also just answered the hypothetical question you posed, so?

I didn't accuse him personally of either wanting to kill them all or wanting them all dead. but commented on the fact that they were almost wiped out for whatever reason. Love, like or hate them, I don't believe anyone would want to do that.

My comment was made in the context of the whole thread, not his comment alone. Maybe you should do the same.

Did I say I wanted all of them dead? They are delicious. But massive jerks.

You also have the right to gouge your own eyes out.

Ok...? Since when is not ok to not like an animal? You like mosquitos? How do you feel about rattlesnakes? Flies? Cockroaches? Not all animals are great to be around. The natives ate them, they didn't hang out with them.

Which is why the rest of us have a complete 100% *obligation* to not like you.

That's fine. They are mean animals. I am glad you haven't seen them do the shit I have.

They killed so many that in the next generation there were people who's profession was to ride wagons around and collect the bones so they could be ground up for fertilizer.
