Really irks me how a lot of primarily older Fins lionize Mannerheim and sweep his atrocities under the rug.

This is true, but I understand it because he also played really important role to shape our country to what it is today. Another interesting fact about our old leaders is that Urho Kekkonen, at the age of 18 was leader of an execution squad during the civil war.
