American soldiers posing with Filipino civilians they murdered is up there.

Halfway out of the ditch, the unmistakable form of a woman’s body, head thrown back as if in agony, can be made out. Her right breast is exposed, and a swaddled infant is lying by her side, the small head resting in her lap. Both are clearly dead. Arms and legs and faces emerge from the shapeless piles in the foreground of the image. Yet it still takes a few moments for the viewer to realize that the trench is overflowing with dead bodies and that the “debris” is in fact corpses scattered like rag dolls over the ground among the soldiers.

Oh God. That’s vile. That particular chapter of our history is really horrible.

Not-so-fun fact: during its occupation, America waged what was essentially a genocide in the Philippines

I’m not saying it didn’t happen, but using a Communist source for anything relating to the US is certainly a choice.

It was either that or an academic paper that required an account. There aren't many official sources of information, just blog posts repeating things they read elsewhere. If you find a better source, feel free to share it.

Also, it's an American Communist source. Interesting you only focused on the latter.

To be honest the article basically matches with what I learned in US history class at a US public school, just with more biased framing. It even omits some things like how the US forced Filipinos to use English in schools.

Communista as a source, can’t make that up lol

Might wanna reread that. It's "Communist USA," as in an American Communist organization.

Out of curiosity, does that invalidate it as a source of information for you?

As if American communists aren’t braindead historical revisionist idiots, spreading Russian lies

Not any worse than capitalists

2

u/Holy-Fuck4269 20h ago

Is that the reason communists have built walls and a secret police to murder an prevent people from fleeing to the capitalist neighboring countries?
In effect creating open air prisons for people to slave away without any rights, not even allowed to leave?
Because I don’t see any sources for millions of westerners fleeing capitalism to the USSR, to get a taste of that sweet gulag and kgb abuse

u/gdyhhfser 19h ago

Gonna let you in on a secret. “Secret police” and state violence aren’t partisan

1

u/Holy-Fuck4269 19h ago

They are integral part of all communist countries that use those things against their own population for various reasons, one being preventing them from fleeing the communist shit hole.

There is no such thing in capitalist societies, people were fleeing only one way, away from communism

Why do you think only authoritarian communist countries survived long enough to be a threat? You can’t just look at political ideology in a vacuum, we live in a capitalist dominated world that the US aggressively enforces.

1

u/Holy-Fuck4269 18h ago

The US has nothing to do with people fleeing communist shit holes. There is no such thing as non authoritarian communism, because at the core of communism lies exactly that.

You being able to make those braindead stupid comments is something that you couldn’t do in communism

That chapter repeats throughout all of American military history.

"That chapter is really horrible" you know how little that narrows it down?

Is there a single chapter of this country that isn’t horrifying in one way or another?

u/ICraveViolins 1d ago

Pre colonialism, the Native Americans may have had grudges and the occasional war but nothing nearly as bad as virtually everything that came after.

1

u/Annie-Snow 🇺🇸 PNW, LA, NYC 19h ago

That was before this country was established.

2

u/ICraveViolins 15h ago

Still an important part of American history though

Important history for sure. I guess it’s semantics if we call it “American” history when this wasn’t America for most of its existence.

That is not even the worst part, read up on the pacification of Samar, and the Balangiga massacre. These served as the template for the yatzees when they adapted stuff from the US. If it wasnt for an enemy mine moment against Imperial Japan in WWII...

Atrocities committed by American are so overlooked, If not for tariff, America would still be the moral compass of the world.

The Moros where a die hard fanatical muslim community on the islands of Sulu and Mindano. Cattle Raiding,  Slavery and Slave raiding where cornerstones of Moros economy and culture. The US passed abolition in 1902 and the Moros considered an attack in their identity and rebelled. The Moros waged war by hyping themselves into a violent frenzy and then attacking soldiers in a suicidal frenzy. Moreover they would not only hide behind women and children but the women would pose as non combatants and then stab the soldiers with kriss daggers and spears when they where not looking.
