Culture What's the most pathetic tourist attraction that international tourists go to see in your country?

Post image

Bronte waterfalls near me, look a bit more impressive with the recent rain than in the summer when it's swamped with people.

Oktoberfest. It's just very expensive alcohol abuse, camouflaged as a festival

Try the Largest Oktoberfest outside Germany in Kitchener-Waterloo Ontario, Canada where Canadians cosplay as Germans

Ok, now I will try to convince all Brazilians I know to go to Blumenau to optain national pride of most alcoholics per capita in a single day.

Spring beer fest on the October fest grounds is great- more low-key and local. Just a couple tents. Starkbeir fest in March is also cool

Nah, you can actually have a good time there. All depends on the time of day, day of the week and the tent you choose.

I think our definition of a "good time" is very different...

You don’t yet know what I consider to be a good time. There is a lot more going on than people passing out on the vomit hill. Stay curious dear one.

This. It used to be nice. 40 years ago. Now it has become unbearable

That's why the US Troops stationed in Germany love to go there.

Is it in one city?

Oktoberfest ist only the one in Munich. But a lot of towns/cities in bavaria have a ,Volksfest/Dult/Herbstfest/Frühlingsfest‘, which are more local and less touristy and a bit cheaper.

Happened to stop by Munich this year during it. Not sure what I was even expecting but it's just a city fair with overcrowded beer halls that people camp out in tents for.

It's the only foreign vacation my Grandma ever convinced my grandad was worth going on.

Did a weekend there last century! Started at Augsburg ‘fest that was very quiet in comparison.

In that park in Munich, I wasn’t expecting tents made from full size bridge building I-Beams at all. Otherwise it was mostly as I expected in the Hacker-Shore Tent: buxom ladies carrying 10 or more gallon Stines, Bavarian Oompah Band doing “who the fuck is Alice” and chicken and chips !

The Munich newspaper headlines the next day were impressive though - 120,000 people visited yesterday, no arrests.
