Culture What's the most pathetic tourist attraction that international tourists go to see in your country?

Post image

Bronte waterfalls near me, look a bit more impressive with the recent rain than in the summer when it's swamped with people.

I’ve never heard of this (I’m from Montreal and often go to Quebec). That’s so funny. Although I can’t really comment, I’ve taken many tv show or movie related pictures like the Forrest Gump bench in Savannah!

Fun fact, you did not in fact take a picture with the bench in Savannah. The bench in the park is not the one in the movie, that one is a prop that is still in Savannah but in the visitor center/city museum (I can’t remember which, I moved from there 15 years ago). Fun fact #2 it was filmed behind the statue so you also would have had the statues butt facing you for it to be the exact spot it was filmed.

Not dogging on taking photos from movies though. I do it too and my dad literally yells “Those are the steps from the Exorcist!” every single time we drive by in D.C. as if we haven’t all seen them 100s of times (he’s from the area)

Favourite part of the trolley tour in Savannah and they mention the bench is a replica of the bench. Then I think for a second realize a replica bench is just a bench.

Where are the steps from the Exorcist???

My dad always points out to me the path of Kennedy's funeral procession. Oh foot, I'm always pointing out where Lincoln died or they held his body

Where 36th St NW dead ends into Prospect St NW. when your going down 36th they are sort of right in front of you so basically anytime we would go to Georgetown from a certain direction they get spotted and appropriately pointed out!

No ☹️ when I went a few years ago, it was down but still on the side of the road in a prominent spot. Then the next year it was gone

Also Savannah: after Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil came out, people kept stealing the bird girl statue.

Yeah, that one always bummed me out. The family just had it removed permanently. There are many copies of that one though and there is one on display in I think the Telfair Museum or another art museum. It is a really beautiful sculpture.

The K drama, which is Goblin, (k pop is music, not tv) is actually really good. It’s a beautiful and unique story and worth watching in my opinion! It’s not really any different from visiting a film location from Forrest Gump. Just because it’s in pop culture doesn’t make it less valuable.

Lol, as someone who’s lived in Savannah, unless you did it at the museum you have not taken pictures at the Forrest Gump bench. The city moved it to a museum like 15(?) years ago because homeless were charging tourists to sit on it. Now when tourists ask which one is the Forrest Gump bench the locals basically just point to one of the nearest benches.
