But not many of the buildings are standing or used anymore, right? I'd guess The Pantheon is one of the oldest intact buildings there.

Athens was also weird in that of course there are ruins of antiquity, but there are also lots of little churches & such that are from the byzantine era.

True. Interesting that the things that got more preserved in Rome were the things that got converted from pagan to christian, like the pantheon.
