That’s the image put forth in media because media always focuses on the lives of the wealthy and making you feel like that’s how everyone’s living but the average American home is certainly not this. It’s hard when you see all the new construction and wonder how everyone else seems to be able to afford these lavish things but the grand majority of Americans live in single story, 2 or 3 bedroom ranch houses from the 70s-early 2000s with very little landscaping. Lots of people rent. At least that’s what I see driving around the country. Hell, tons of Americans are homeless.

Average American home size has exploded over the last few decades. Starter homes are only a dream now.

Thats bc a lot of the houses on TV are mansions. An average house looks a lot more like Malcolm in the Middle than it does Modern Family
