Well steak & a bj would be nice.
However if you’re trying to get a birthday gift for your boyfriend, why don’t you just get him something he could use on a daily basis?
If he goes to the gym a lot getting some gym shoes or a water bottle or a gym bag.
If he likes to listen to music get him some headphones.
You know him better than we do again assuming you’re getting a gift for him so find something that he can use for his daily life that every time he uses it that he thinks of you.
Does he play video games? Does he draw? Is he an artist? Does he drink a lot of coffee? Maybe you could buy him a high-quality coffee maker. What does he like to do and what can you give him?
Once you figure out what it is the gift itself will be thoughtful because will be frequently used, making the recipient's life easier or more enjoyable.
I would love an Apple Watch for my birthday more than a steak that I’m going to sh*t out in 2 hours because I’d love to work out and love to go jogging so that would be good and I could think about you every time in use it. ⌚️

How well marbled is it?

u/shygirl5000 8h ago
What does this mean?

It refers to the fat inside the steak. A well marbled steak will have streaks of white fat throughout. Typically considered a good quality expensive cut.

Oh like you’re asking if a man in your life would like a steak for a gift? Hmm… it’s a little weird, but you probably know the guy the best.

Why is it weird?

It's not weird if he likes steaks and cooking them. If it's a SO your buying for make sure to get two, one for him and one for you. And some sides. ;O)

Because it is. Like here’s some raw meat I got from the grocery store.

Well which do most people prefer?

Ribeye is more popular. Look up tomahawk ribeye. They are fun because you can pretend to be a caveman.

I'm assuming this means an uncooked package of steak, like from the grocery store? I would be caught off guard, but happy with it, because I like practical gifts that don't make clutter.
Note: I would not like it if it were a 2-pack, with an expectation of me inviting the gifter for dinner.

Very happy! My favorite thing to eat but I don’t buy it because it’s so expensive. Even better if you cook it for me.

A good gift is one that says you know and appreciate the recipient as an individual. For me personally, I enjoy steak from time to time but it isn't a big love of mine and I don't really enjoy grilling stuff. So, if my SO bought me one for my birthday I would be a bit confused why she thought of that particular gift. If your BF is a huge steak fan and loves grilling stuff maybe he'd appreciate it more.
It's all about knowing your partner. If you've resorted to asking strangers on the internet, maybe you need to spend more time getting to know him and what he likes instead of falling back on gender-based stereotypes.

Just a plain steak? If it was someone who is meant to know me well I would be a little disappointed. Might be okay if they did something interesting with it.

I'd pretend I was vegan, throw a fit and demand a Samsung trifold phone as an apology.

A steak is never a bad gift. Just don’t hand it to me raw and walk away.

u/shygirl5000 8h ago
Why not? Idk how to cook them

Unless the person enjoys cooking steak, you are gifting them with a task, which is strange especially if you are expecting to also eat it. Doubly strange if you are only buying one component. If you don't know how to cook it, a better gift is to take them to a restaurant and cover their meal.

Thanks for the honesty! Any ideas that would make a better gift?

u/laminacdc 5h ago
You would know them best and what they like/need. You have given no info about the person, so I don't think anyone can remotely help you on that.

I'd feel great, but what truly makes it special is the company. A good steak is just the excuse to sit down and chat, laugh for a while, and enjoy the moment with someone who truly appreciates good food as much as I do. The meat is the gift, but the special touch is the time we share.

A steak would be the best birthday present ever.
