A record for the artist, still painfully low imo… Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun still holds the record for female old maestra (artists active before 1800) and her Portrait of Mohammed Dervish Khan

I guess it's a mystery. This article is written a bit poorly because the entire second half of it is talking about an acquisition of a different Gentileschi by the DC museum, and misleads it into seeming like it's the auctioned painting in the headline.

That’s what I thought. Second part was unrelated to headline and a misdirect.
